Ciao, my name is Very!

I am Neuroscientist by profession and Artist by passion.

I was born in Trieste (Italy) but traveled the world both for work and for curiosity and lived in different countries. I am currently based in Basel (Switzerland).

Despite Science constantly attracts my brain, Art owns and has always owned my heart. In particular, music, dance and photography have accompanied every step of my life, and are so much part of me that I do not consider them as simple hobbies, but my ways to express.

Both my parents are passionate hobbyist photographers, so when I was little I naturally developed curiosity and interest for cameras and the photography world.

When I became big enough to replace my toy camera with a real one, my mom allowed me to use her beautiful Asahi Pentax, which has been my companion in some photography contests at school. 

However, studies and life came between me and photography for several years, and it was only in 2021-2022 that I decided to finally give a voice to this passion, enrolling in the “Photography Masterclass: a complete guide to photography”, an amazing Udemy online course with Phil Ebiner, William Carnahan and Sam Shimizu-Jones, that gave me the strong bases I needed.

Now, my camera is an extension of my arms. It is always with me, everywhere I go.

I have been asked many times: “What do you like about photography? Is it framing stories, freezing moments or collecting beautiful images?”

… Hmmm, none of these actually, or not only. For me photography is the journal of my emotions. I take photos of what I feel rather than what I see, and being able to express my feelings gives me a sense of calmness and inner peace. Yes, I could say that photography is my Mindfulness Therapy.

So, welcome to my journal!

I HAVE A DREAM… 

My dream is to see my photos published in a photography book and exhibited around the world (and my secret dream is one day to collaborate with Fujifilm).
